I got to write the Dedication & Acknowledgements pages for the book today. It will be very satisfying to see, on one page, “for Mary.” (I’m dedicating to the book to my sister Mary, who suffers from schizophrenia.) And on another, the thank yous to all the people who helped me through this. (And man, there sure are a lot of them.)

Dear Jim, you will not ever know or understand just how much this means to me; besides my crinkled up face, my blurred vision from tears welling up, my sniffling nose, my tears running down my cheeks, my altered breathing, and my chin scrunching up. I know you put your heart and soul into this work. I don’t know how to thank you enough. Well, I am glad I am sharing this moment with you here on the computer(very apropo,) I don’t think I could have faced these feelings if there had been someone else here with me. Love forever, Mary P.S. and the salty taste of my own joyful sorrow.
