As you can see, the website is undergoing some work. Hopefully, we’ll have something reasonably finished by Christmas.

I’ll be offering one-on-one mentoring as part of the Oregon Writers’ Colony’s Mentor in the House program August 26-28th. Amazing space for writing–hoping to crank out some pages myself.

My short story, Maybe Kamchatka, He Thought, is part of a wonderful anthology of short stories published by The Farallon Review. The issue includes work by one of personal heroes, Lewis Buzbee, as well as the talented S. J. Sasken.
The review is available for purchase at many San Francisco and Sacramento-based bookstores, as well as through the United States Postal Service.

I’ve been fretting of late with Basement Writing Workshop because Paypal buttons don’t provide a means to use coupon codes. I wanted to offer discounts for Writer’s Dojo members, newsletter subscribers, friends, etc., and didn’t have any means for students enrolling in my workshops to receive their discounts during the check-out process.
Shopping carts can be super-pricey, and while the 3% Paypal steals for every transaction is steep, all the pure credit card processors are such a nuisance I didn’t want the headache or the cost of having to integrate.
Anyway… in my hunt to find a way to integrate coupon codes into Paypal, I stumbled upon E-junkie, a super elegant and simple solution that provides a shopping cart pop-up where you can enter coupon codes before going to Paypal. Right now they’re offering 3 months free, and 50% off their regular rates of $5 a month.
Now $30/year with no set-up costs and 3 months free is shopping cart technology I can afford.
